Beds in Hungary, the 1st of decembre 2001

I installed a mattress and a pillow in 21 places of Budapest to speak about the disparities that I found there. I wanted to exhibit the photos of the installation in the wagon of the touristic metro of Budapest which follow the most famous avenue of the inner city.

The manager of the BKV society answered me that it wasn't possible because, as the metro is an historical monument, any kind of hanging is forbidden. (Should I say that a few time later, 2 billboards for advertisement were hanging in each wagon; the law is not always heard...). He suggested me to exhibit in the 2 other metros that recently had a specific place for artistic posters (named "Métro Galéria" and that quieckly disappeard). But, because those board were to be rent for a few millions of forints -and because my photographs were "not beautiful enough to be appreciate by a large public"- this man suggested me, as I am French, to take pictures of the Paris monuments and to ask a financial support from the Tourist Office...

So I decided to exhibit my pictures at home one evening; a lot of different kind of people came.
