Empty spaces, 2000 - 2002

In the center of Budapest there are a lot of areas that remain empty after a building has fallen down. If they are not rebuilt then they are turned into parking lots or just let as empty places, and all of them have a particular atmosphere: light is coming, plants are growing up, a part of history can be read on the wall (wallpaper, wooden floor...).

In 3 central districts, I made a photographic repertory of all those places (more than 200) to guide people in the town through houses that do not exist anymore.

You can acces to all those photographs thanks to an artistic book or by visiting the web site www.c3.hu/~beyondbudapest (created during a residency in C3).

2 examples, in the 8th district:

between Futo and Nap streets,

Horvath Mihaly square.
